What Our Graduates Say

Buse Alkoç

Even though I graduated from ELT department and have some teaching experience, this course made me combine all the knowledge I have and teach many valuable things. Now I feel very comfortable to prepare materials and create lesson plans. Besides ELT department, this also goes with other branches that require communication skills. We are so lucky that we met a wonderful teacher here who expanded our point of view and made us love to do this job.

Elif Gökbulut

TESOL program was such a great experience in terms of a guide to being an ESL teacher. I will use the tips and approaches widely at my own classses. Other than that, it was also great to meet with new people from different cultures and backgrounds. Our trainer was always so helpful during the course. The course was intense but we had a lot of opportunities to practice. It was worth being here. I surely will miss it.

Natalia Barba

Before starting the TESOL program I was wondering how could I survive 6 hours sitting down every Saturday and Sunday for the next 8 weeks of my life and listen to a teacher that will teach me how to be a teacher. On September 15, 2018 I arrived to the classroom and the fun began. This course was such an experience for me. Together with my classmates we learned a different way to teach. All of us with our different backgrounds were used to be taught in a very traditional way. As students we were not taught how to discover. In this course, we learned that and also we learned many techniques to make a classroom fun and teach in an inductive way. I enjoyed it a lot and our trainer was amazing.

It was very useful and such a great program for me. I met lots of good friends and we created good things together. Our trainer always helped us and we developed ourselves day by day. Thanks for everything.

About the school, it is well equipped with media tools such as projections, large TVs and WiFi for conducting this program. Also its warm environment and cheerful staff were always helpful during the course. Its location was also relatively accessible from where I live. I was able to use the public transport to get to the school and I never got late thanks to its location which is very close to the metro and bus lines.

About the program, first of all, the course book is very well prepared. I learnt lots of activities from the book. Our teacher gave us enough opportunity to practice those activities such as mingles, riddles, roleplays, debates, etc. I didn’t know about any of them until this course. Secondly, I improved my presentation skills too. Our teacher provided us with written and oral feedback after each mini and micro lesson presentations. I believe I will benefit from them in my future career too. I also got to know some of my skills that I wasn’t aware of. For example, I wasn’t aware of being a kinesthetic person, neither how it might help me in learning and teaching process. I also had a chance to learn about language teaching methods and approaches. I now know tha advantages and disadvantages of them. I had never prepared any lesson plans up until the program. Our teacher showed us how to prepare an ideal lesson plan in a very detailed manner. She explained dos and don’ts. I had a chance to apply what I have learnt theoretically later in practice activities. This gives almost a realtime experience. Later on, I participated in real classroom environment and observed the real lessons during the practicum hours.

Thank you.

I found “How to Teach IELTS & TOEFL Short Course” very useful and interesting. I got to learn a lot of strategies and techniques which can be used not only in test preparations but also in everyday teaching. I think it will help me to be a better teacher and improve my skills. I am very grateful for our amazing teacher. I appreciate not only the knowledge she gave us but also the friendly and nice atmosphere she created at every lesson.

I would never imagine that teaching English is not that easy. In this training program I learnt many different kinds of educational teaching styles, tactics, theoretical, vocational and extremely useful knowledge. I can feel the differences in me in teaching before and after. I’ve actually acquired more self-confidence in teaching how to discourse towards the community or a class. I thought it was really scary and hard, but now I understand that it s much more fun and a good experience when you handle the items what you need to find out basically after getting over the rocky road.

The TESOL course provided by Queen TESOL Centre in Istanbul, which I attended for nine weekends, allowed me to look at ESL teaching from a different perspective and helped me become a more qualified and knowledgeable English teacher. Through my experience at Queen TESOL Centre and the support, advice and information given by my instructors, I learned more effective ways of observing students’ learning and soliciting feedback from them, as well as how to incorporate that crucial information into my work. Thanks a lot – keep up the work!

Knowing English actually does not mean you also can teach. Before I applied TESOL program I thought if I can speak, I could teach easily. But when I started the program, I realized that that was a wrong assumption and I learnt about my weaknesses and how to fix them. Before participating in TESOL program, I thought that teaching was just giving explanations with some examples. After the program, I know that teaching is not that simple and the most crucial part is observation, planning and preparation for each lesson. During the program we were provided with theoretical information on the best ways to teach English and had chance to make practice during role plays. Practicum part showed me how I could use these methods in a real life lesson. I now know that to become a good teacher I always need to think out of the box, be a good planner and must be flexible to overcome potential problems that may arise during the sessions.
